Lighting 1. Go near to a window in the daytime for
natural light when applying makeup. In the evening, use white light
instead of yellow light (incandescent bulbs). Different types of
lightings bring out different tones.
3 essentials for the night out 1. Have these 3 things
(at least) in your evening bag on your night out : wet tissue (for easy
wipe-off in case of makeup errors), lipstick & face powder.
Freshen up 1. When you need to keep your makeup on but want to freshen up, spray a light layer of face mist & pat gently with tissue.
Exercise 1. Resist wearing makeup during exercise, it could clog up the pores on the skin especially when you have acne.
Makeup remover 1. Use a gentle make-up remover to
remove makeup. Use the patting motion as your fingers orientate around
the face to wipe off traces of makeup. Do not rub especially around the
delicate eye area. Clean thoroughly, spare no makeup.
2. Never hurry off to bed at the end of the day with makeup on! Remove it first, no matter how tired you are.
Hygiene & due dates 1. Forbid makeup sharing. It is more hygienic this way.
2. Cosmetics cannot last forever because they have due dates too. Throw them away once their time is up.
3. Liquid foundation & nail color tend to separate. Their colors or odours will also be altered.
4. Eye shadow has a change in color. Creamy ones will harden.
5. Mascara turns crumpy & dry.
6. Lipstick becomes discolored or moldy.
Here's another guideline 1. Foundation - 1 year after opening, 2 years if unopened.
2. Eye shadow - 1 year after opening, 2 years if unopened.
3. Mascara - 2 months after opening, 1 year if unopened.
4. Lipstick - 18 months after opening, 2 years if unopened.
Storage 1. Store all cosmetics in a cool dry place, out of moisture & the sun.
2.. Always re-cap after use. Keep containers properly sealed.
